Being mouse-free is amazing
2022/12/31I started to build my own st config for the first time (I was using Luke's build before), and for the first time in a long time - I felt like I didn't want to use the momuse. It felt like a chore to move my hands between my keyboard and my mouse so frequently.
So I decided I want to stop using a mouse for good. Sometimes I would catch myself trying to reach my mouse which I moved from its usual position, and quickly move my hands back on the keyboard.
My setup looks like this now:
- I use extensions in my browsers to navigate with vim-like keybindings with ease.
- I use keyboard shortcuts in my terminal, and everywhere else I can, instead of my mouse.
- I use a custom qmk firmware to be able to move my mouse with my keyboard.
I've been really enjoying it so war, not because it's more efficient, but because it's much more elegant, and it also takes up less desk space, which I don't have a lot of right now.
Of course this isn't practical for gaming, so I'll keep a mouse around for that. Hopefully I can make a habit out of this and I'll report on how this journey is going in a month or so.
